I’m happy to share that Echo, our Sorrel Silver Queen owned by Westford Cats has returned from visiting her Boyfriend.
Typically, arranging to take her to stud is often a last minute thing. She calls fairly silently. Echo knows this boy so we hoped things would go smoothly. Westford Cats had nothing to worry about. Of course it did!
Fortunately, we have a very accommodating vet surgery nearby who understand what we do and why we are trying to raise the profile of an Abyssinian and breed. We needed to check our vaccinations were in date and that the snap tests were negative. Thankfully she, travels well in the car so it didn’t put her off her call.
Echo stayed a few days with him and we got updates on their “activities”. Our Queen and Mr “One Shot” had privacy and visits by the extremely reputable stud owners. The regular updates were very reassuring too.
Amusingly, the girls could smell a stud all over her and she was greeted with all the nosiness that typifies her breed!
We are waiting for external signs eg “pinking up” in a few weeks time. Her nipples will become more visible and change colour slightly.
Reassuringly, we also like to scan our cats at some point in pregnancy. Importantly, this is not to count kittens – but to check theres at least more than one so it helps me manage their labours and assess if any intervention is needed or not.
Our kittens from Echo our sorrel silver Queen by Westford Cats will be due in October 23. This Momma is absolutely brilliant with her kittens and extremely loving to other kittens too. This is a repeat mating with a very well known successful show cat and stud. I really like the temperament of the kittens produced from this pairing. “Purr Balls” and soppy – just like their gorgeous father.
